From DRAB to FAB- my latest restoration is ready to rock!

Just picked up the maple platform rocker from the upholsterer and boy is it on point in many ways.  This rocker (of unknown origin) is made of solid maple and has a platform base.  It dates to the art deco era of the 20s/30s.  It was a family piece but the owner was downsizing and her children did not want it.  Anyway, the original fabric was pretty neat but had rips and lots of dirt.  So I decided this one was a great candidate to be made over.  I found this great IKAT print on the cheap ($20/yard normally!) and it was just what I was looking for.  Not only is cobalt/white totally hot right now, so is boho prints.  This piece is so awesome and comfy with it's newly rebuilt structure and it's new threads.  I can see this being a super piece for a nursery, bedroom or den.  If you love bohemian or it's plant inspired cousin, Jungalow style, this piece is for you!  Grab it now and make it part of your family traditions!  I have lots of this fabric left so will be able to offer it for more projects coming!  Listing is live on ETSY and will probably be live in about a week on chairish.  If you need shipping, reach out.  My UShip connection is now doing nationwide delivery and I will reach out for a quote.  I do not mind packing it for you and trust him more than Greyhound for a restored piece.

BIG FUN NEWS!

Victorian ON FIRE.  So I took in a few out of my normal era pieces recently and no worries, I am not switching teams, but when I see a visually interesting piece in great condition, I want to help it get to a home where it can be appreciated and adored.  So I took in the green settee with some reservations but I knew the repair would be straightforward.  I got the velvet and hand stitched to the cushions to cover up the doggie damage and I was so pleased how it turned out.  Because I have a lot of larger items in my storage right now and it was the perfect size to add to my small retail space, I took it out.  So glad I did!  It was found by a production company who came through the Mall and they snapped it up for a new show being shot for fall.  It is called TELL ME A STORY.  It sounds like my kind of show too!  A horror based on child stories but taking place in NYC.  I'm hooked!  I also saw the stack of other furniture they bought and they are def going for a gothic vibe.  So we all have something to look forward to this fall and I will be looking for my pretty couch in the series!  I believe it was a CBS series.  Will post more when I find out when it is starting to air.

Announcing some great yardage choices now listed in the etsy shop!  This out of print stash of fabrics were floating around back rooms at Crate and Barrel stores and was being blown out at their outlet store by the yard.  They found a very small stash yesterday as we were told it was all gone.  So I snagged a few bolts!  I definately have more yards than what I have listed in the etsy shop so if you need a large quantity, message me and I will measure and cut off the bolt for you.  This is an awesome opportunity!  I checked out what is on etsy and mostly remnants at prices higher than my $20/yard price.  I will cover your shipping to make it easier for multiple quantities at checkout.  If you need more questions answered or pics, just shoot via etsy messenger.  I will be keeping a stash for myself so if you think you want some, please commit soon!  The linen is amazing!  It is a nice and heavier weight.  Would make a gorgeous drapey dress!  They all would make great table cloths or runners.  High quality fabric.  Add some great colorful prints to your life and style! <3

I have a super busy week!  Something is shipping out on Thursday, working the election day poles tomorrow as I have been appointed JUDGE OF ELECTION at my poling place which should be a fun and crazy day, plus my kids are in the throws of end of the year school activities so I have a band concert Thursday night and am chaperoning on a band trip at the end of the week. ‘Kultakero’ Holiday print-tree theme. 2011 edition. Very large repeat of pattern.  Great for table cloth and runners. This is my smallest quantity.  Maybe 10 yards. 100% cotton.

Beautiful 100% linen print ‘Tuntiripollo’ 2011 reissue.  Cool blue and teal circles. Would make wonderful clothing!  I have a large quantity of this as well and def keeping some.

Just made this cute little camp chair a new seat. Feautures indoor/outdoor fabric from F Schumacher.  Ready to go!  

A great blond wood and Masonite cabinet. Use for records or storage in atomic style.  These do not stay around long.  Comes with a cute collapsible metal shelf. 

What a great and rare find! Pink Lucite sculpture from Dorothy C Thorpe, as in silver rimmed glassware fame.  This 11” piece is amazing and freshly plucked from a gorgeous colonial in South Orange, NJ. ****THIS JUST SOLD****

Beautiful dining table by California Designer Maria Yee. Known for her solid wood, eco friendly and sustainable designs, her items are top notch.  This 88” long table is beautiful and perfect for many decor styles. The matte black steel legs are sleek and lean.  

This table looks great with upholstered chairs, Eames fiberglass,  and so much more. Have a look with my restored Italian ladderback chairs!  I will made a deal if you want to purchase chairs plus the table. I did not get them all out for the pic but amazing!!!!

Great little set of hand woven reed baskets.

Possibly Harvey Probber steam bent mahogany side table featured a brass rod center support.  This accent is also on chairs by him known as the Scissors Chairs. Like Edward Wormley, Probber was more of a traditional designer with a more elegant translation of modernism.  He used materials like cane in his designs. Very popular with collectors, Probber pieces are sought after.

A great selection of wool tartan throws perfect for home or camp just in!  I laundered and hung dry.  The 3 in the left are all Faribo.  the one on the right is very lightweight.  Would make a great tablecloth for your picnic table or a great wrap! Cool nights, fireside cozy.

Tools, Picking and eating New England.

Last week was a whirlwind but worth the stress of making sure everyone’s life would be smooth in my absence. I embarked on a road trip with my friend, combined forces and expenses and came home with some great new items, memories and new friends.  I don’t care what you sell or specialize in, we are all the same deep down and the cast of characters at the auction will keep me laughing for years.  

The first leg- We had concert tickets for a Monday night show.  A Philly band we both like, Waxahatchee.  The tickets were bought months ago so I ended up getting home very late and doing my two days at work Monday and Tuesday.  Home for Tuesday evening but not really as that is when my band rehearsed so I did not get caught up on my sleep.  Wednesday morning I had to head back to NJ to leave for the trip but not until I stopped at the upholsterer to pick up the finished X Benches. I buffered in time to that stop and luckily so as he was still finishing them up.  I left before 10am and headed straight to my friend. We arrived within minutes of early other and got on the road.  We made great time and it was a very scenic trip....New York skyline, the NEW Tappon Zee Bridge, beautiful areas I could never afford to live in and continued through Connecticut and Massachusetts.  We arrived in Nashua, NH by evening and had dinner with some friends in the hotel restaurant.  It was good to put faces to the stories my friend tells me and everyone was excited about the buying and selling happening all week.  I even caught some interest in what I do so conversations were easy and light.   

My friend was out shopping the swap meet at 5am Thursday and I was getting up and ready to do my scheduled delivery.  Turns out it was a beyond crappy morning with rain and yes even snow.  Cold and miserable.  My friend had his fill of shopping and decided he would accompany me to the coast and by the way, found an estate sale close by just across the boarder in Massachusetts.  We stopped and I snagged some great items including a just listed Calif/Asia rattan lounge chair and a set of Amish Butterprint Cinderella nesting bowls.  After trying to buy a set of Jarts and being told they were illegal by the estate sale company, my quick thinking friend spun the request to just buy the plastic fins and nuts.  I have a set of wrecked ones so hope to make him a set with the parts. You do know kids split skulls with that famous yard game? 😂 We continued on to Rye, a beautiful coastal town just outside of Portsmouth and delivered the goods.  Then had some lunch in a cute little burger joint.  Portsmouth is really adorable.  We got back to the hotel and then had a super seafood dinner at a local joint with all the characters we were hanging out with.  Of course, it was Lobster Roll for me!  Friday was more parking lot swap meet action, I was schooled at how to shop for Stanley Chisels, in case I find any while I am picking.  Who knew people were so passionate about chisels?  The auction started so we hung in there a bit.  This is one of the biggest tool auctions in the country so there was definitely many collectors and dealers driving up the prices.

 As the auction winded down and the money ran out, it was time to move on to the next leg of the trip.  We headed to Rhode Island to my friend’s Aunt and Uncle where we stayed for the night.  It was my first time in the state so excited to have now been in all the north eastern states.  I got to try Quahogs or Stuffies, which are like a crab cake only with chopped clam. So good!  There were some other delicacies like wine biscuits that were also pretty awesome.  We had a great night visiting and loaded my van with some furniture that was going home with my friend and we headed out for the trip home.  It would not have been a complete trip without a craigslist deal and my friend had one lined up.  We actually went to PA to pick up a tiller before we got back.  Then we hooked up with my family and our VW friends at a car show for the night in Trenton.  It was an awesome week and hope we can do some more joint adventures soon. 🤘🏼

So what did I bring home?  First off, here is a look at the X Benches! I am in love.  These great benches were popular in the 70s and often attributed to interior designer Billy Baldwin.  They are super popular now and look fabulous at the foot of a bed.  I used the plush Blush Royale velvet from Joybird after my client selected it in another color for the wave couch.  Amazing fabric!!! I have some yardage left if anyone is looking for a small project.  Available now in the Etsy shop!  

Another darling restoration in the books! These were extremely labor intensive and are priced accordingly to cover the upholsterer, my fabric and markup.  I have included shipping in my price.  If you are local I may be able to come down some.  Reach out!  

They are sturdy and comfy and you can sit on them!  Under a console table, at the foot of a bed, in a small sitting area, these make awesome room accents! Interior designers love them. Blush is a hot trending color and looks great in a white washed room.  

Super hot in boho, Jungalow and eclectic decors, this Calif-Asia bamboo and wicker chair is so cute! In excellent condition! Add a fur or skin, kilim pillow or other accessory and you have a loungy chill space.  Just listed! Milo Baughman actually designed some lines for this company although I do not think this chair was his.

Another super Pyrex set just in! I am saving this and the pink gooseberry set I have for the Mid Atlantic Pyrex Swap in just a few weeks.  If you are headed there too and want to reserve one of these sets message me! 

Gorgeous Victorian Settee! This chair is in amazing condition and is superbly made! One cushion needs a patch.  Bad 🐶.  I will assist in repairing that for you.  Some sun fade but otherwise in amazing shape.  A very cool piece for a Victorian home or eclectic decor. I just love the details and look at the fringe!!! Upholstered in Philadelphia. message me for info!
