For the collector. This chair dates between 1950-1953. Bent plywood iconic chair design by Charles and Ray Eames. This chair features many of the clues of being a 2nd Gen chairs as noted by the following features: 5-2-4 screw pattern, stamped DCW also hand noted, patent label intact, metal floor glides and single oval shock mount on the back. It’s early and aged perfectly. I love the deep grain which (I think) is Calico Ash.
Many dealers will leave out photos or descriptions of these telltale signs which help you know what you are purchasing. These chairs are hard to compare if this info is missing as there are recent productions that would not have that history. Food for thought when you are browsing as the earliest productions are the most valuable. I find many things to appreciate including the lovely aged finish. This chair is in beautiful condition.
