Summer is picking up!

Things are moving out! It is a great feeling to connect folks with awesome pieces for their home! That said, as we are rolling into the busier months I am trying to get some inventory moved and especially so the items I have on consignment. I’d like to find them homes and get my clients paid. I have the hoop chair and a small green Thonet side chair out at my booth space…..$150 for the hoop chair and $50 for the Thonet. They are my lowest prices because I don’t pay many fees to sell there. Please stop by and check them out and the black pole lamp! I also have a cool pair of early Saarinen side chairs with fiberglass backs. They need some love but are worth giving up. A gorgeous set of 3 chrome Bertoia barstools with custom chartreuse boucle seat pads. My client is motivated to move these and I will present offers to them. If you are looking for 3 matching commercial grade barstools, please consider them! Purchased new from Knoll and retail over a grand a piece. They make a statement for sure!

The Barbies are all sold and I will be selling the final lot of cases and accessories today to a local toy dealer. That’s progress! I have a few other things to list, mostly glass items. Please keep your eyes on my shops!

I just picked up some Paul McCobb pieces I am in love with and am looking to sell my Heywood Wakefield Triple Bubble Glass cabinet in Champagne. It is beautiful. I will take $1000 for a cash deal, you transport. There is a recent eBay sale of $1500 for this piece. I feel my price is very fair. It is beautiful and many collectors holy grails. Just in! LANE ‘First Edition’ bedroom. Wow this line is stunning! Generally in decent condition and clean but there are some chips and issues here and there. The finish is very good overall. So sexy! Bedroom furniture never lasts too long in my shop so have a look and grab these well under what my competitors want for theirs! If you are local and paying cash, reach out as I can do better on the price or offer bundle pricing for more than one piece. I have the high boy, low dresser with a gorgeous mirror and a night stand.

If you are shopping from afar, feel free to call me! I talk to many of my clients on the phone! I get that it’s hard to shop for things like furniture from far away and I do my best to describe things in a collectors eye. I am critical on condition and in most cases, my clients comment that the item was in better condition than they expected. I would rather be hypercritical on condition and have you be pleasantly surprised than the other way around!

The chairs are amazing! Surprisingly sturdy and everything was mint condition. The table went with a relative but I love them with my Herman Miller table! 💗💗💗💗

Antiques Roadshow? Oh yes!

A friend of ours won lottery tickets to the Roadshow taping this week at Winterthur in Wilmington! I was thrilled when she invited me and we are planning our trip.

I think I am taking some works by Bette Fast. She has a great story and beautiful art. It may be a good way to make her relevant again. I know about her and have done research, but really have no comps on any of her works—-sculpture or painting. So let’s see what we can find out at the Roadshow! It will be a fun day. We are leaving Monday afternoon and probably will not be back until late Tuesday. My production will not be functional but I will ship all packages Monday morning. I have plenty to go out right now. Shop this weekend and it will get shipped Monday.

Can’t wait to report back on the roadshow experience!

I just committed to some new case pieces and I may be keeping one and selling my Heywood Wakefield triple bubble glass china cabinet! If you are looking for this holy grail piece, in champagne, please let me know. My new pieces will be here beginning of July and I can have this one ready to go prior to or just after. Cash/local clients will get this under value! Most recent eBay comp is $1400 plus shipping. I can do this one for $1000, less if cash. Totally worth it for a stunning piece and it is is fabulous condition with tons of storage.

Barbie world is hopping. Dolls are moving out at a rapid pace and many are heading overseas. One thing about this collection, the dolls realizing the most money are collectors editions purchased through the club. They are silkstone dolls designed by Robert Best and are much higher quality than Mattel toy store dolls. The average low end doll never removed from package is worth between $10-20 depending on demand. I am thrilled to be able to see this collection as the garments and detailing on the high end barbies are amazing. If you are a mid Century fan, you should check out the many retro reproduction dolls from the 50-70s. Most of these are better collectibles and will display fabulously. You will not want to remove them from the box if you want to preserve their value. Everything must be intact and perfect for a collector to pay top dollar, but you only live once and you can’t take it with you so do what you want with your own collection! They are leaving quickly! Check them out while you can!

Just finished this set! It needed a bunch of help including structural work, glitter bomb eradication and we even fabricated a new rung on one of the chairs which I stained to match. They are really handsome. Medium pecan color, nice and warm. Beautiful cane accent for texture. 2 arm chairs, 2 side chairs. I would like $200 cash for them, if you want to purchase and have me ship, I can Greyhound them. You pay shipping and fees plus a nominal packing charge. Local meets/delivery. Regional delivery for a nominal fee.

Collectors Consigning with Collectors- musings for my newest venture.

I am so thankful my friends and past clients, Danny and John, chose me to help them downsize their collections as they embark on a new adventure in condo living.  There are many times in life when you are faced with your bulging collection and space, time and storage issues.  I am using this experience to set up spreadsheets, procedures and thoughts for an official contract for future consignments.  

My thoughts so far, this is a lot of work.  It is probably not worth consigning small, low value collections.  This is for mass quantities of high end stuff or a combo of both.  I also will be faced with what to do with the residual items as time goes on?  I was thinking after an agreeable amount of time, slashing prices.  Contacting local dealers to buy out the remaining items, etc. My goal is to realize the highest values for your stuff as the market will bear, pack and ship safely and deal with the customer service, make appropriate bulk deals with shoppers.  

What can you expect?  Well, it’s hard to say until we get rolling.  The Barbie market has really surprised me.  Collectors are ravenous and willing to buy multiples for combined shipping. These are all in mint condition and never removed from the box.  I have competition on these listings and am pricing in line with recent sales and things are moving faster than my own inventory! That is great news!  I try to keep my shipping costs low and I am begging friends to save me smaller to medium boxes, packing pillows and other materials.  So far, so good.  

Here are some additional thoughts.  I make more money buying bulk at low prices and selling high myself than I do consigning.  I do not always have the cash to purchase mass quantities of inventory and especially high end inventory so consigning works great as it is no upfront cost for me.  Here’s probably the best thing so far.  I picked up 2 carloads of inventory last week.  I listed the furniture first then the Franciscan Starburst as that fits what I normally sell.  My own fan base was excited and I sold some china out the gate.  Next I started the Barbies on eBay.  I have gotten though 3 boxes in 3 days with close to 15 boxes total.  Since I started listing, I sold over $1000 worth of stuff and raised my consignors over $600!   I know in the estate circles I buy in no dealer would pay this much for this massive lot.  I have not even touched the surface! Incoming! Franciscan Starburst alert, misc collectibles, Barbie and some great furniture on the way.

I have taken on a large amount of consignment items from dear friends who are downsizing into their dream condo.  Of course my goal is to help them get as much as they can for their awesome collections, but there is much work ahead in going through and listing.  That said, you will want to stay tuned to my Instagram or Facebook pages for hot off the press listings.  At any time I welcome you to contact me and if I can sell it to you before I list or even off Etsy, it will save you!  Local and regional peeps who can drive to pick up can save too.  I am bundling things so make me a list let’s negotiate!  I am currently adding Franciscan Starburst China to my Etsy.  Some have issues and I am noting all of that.  Read carefully and reach out if you need more info or pics.  This will take me some time to get through and we will be out of town this weekend.  I am trying to take little steps.  If by chance you know of a hardcore Barbie collector or dealer, please send them my info.  There are some fabulous collectible editions in this lot.  I would love to have someone hand pick so I can get it more manageable.  Most are new in original boxes and if removed were display only.  There are accessories as well.  So much!

Help me re-home this great stuff!  My consignment endeavor will help my friends empty their home of valuable items that just won’t fit their new space.
