Antiques Extravaganza Tips!

How to save time and shop early at MadModWorldVintage.com! Buy it now, pick up by appt at the Showroom! 14129 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522

The fields at Renninger’s Kutztown will be all abuzz with antiques vendors from all over in just 2 short weeks. The region in generally is a hot spot for antiquing that weekend. The show starts Friday April 28th-Saturday April 29th and continues 1/2 hour south in Adamstown, PA on Sunday 30th. It’s worth a trip to shop the fields and nearby shops, I will say, I never am that impressed with the mid century offerings as we tend to be in a primitives area, but you may find some hidden gems. The good news is, you can shop MadModWorldVintage NOW and secure your finds and pick up after you hit the show! That’s right! I strive to offer you an automated shipping experience that allows you to shop early and then hit the show with no fear of missing out on something. I think it’s genius and I hope you do too! My listings have specs and info so you can check out everything and I try to have many pics. If you have questions, just tell! I am currently heading out to the shop with backstock and other things I will be offering on the porch for cash/carry yard sale style. I will be open Thursday, the day vendors arrive to set up. Please stop by!

You will find many food purveyors inside the Farmers Market. Bring your cooler if you want to shop the meats, cheeses and vegetables! Kutztown also hosts a variety of restaurants and casual fare and shopping in a quaint small college town environment. As you head south on route 222, you will come to a traffic circle and not quite a mile past you will find Fleetwood Antique Mall and the MadModWorldVintage showroom on the right. Lots to see on 3 floors in the barn and the dollar shop. They are open 10-6. Continuing south, Kirbyville Antiques on the right is another barn filled with antiques and vintage. From there you will follow 222 South to Adamstown. Insider scoop…..you will find better prices in Berks County! Adamstown is a great place to shop, but warning….it’s premium priced and touristy! Lots of shops to explore but bargains can be few and far between. There is a great flea market down there called Shrupp’s Grove. Definitely worth a stop!

If you need any other area recommendations just yell! HAPPY SHOPPING AND CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU IN THE SHOWROOM!!! XO MALISSA

Europe pics!

I’ll attempt to share a few pics of our trip, We started our journey in Sorrento, Italy and spent 2 nights there which included a ferry ride to Capri Island. Italy can be summed up with tiny cars, motorcycles/scooters and crazy drivers! It was beautiful in the spring and the citrus trees were full of fruit!

We then headed to Rome for 3 nights and stopped at Pompeii with an awesome view of Mount Vesuvius.

Some highlights in Rome was the Colosseum and the Vatican. I had no idea there are 6 mummified popes there! We saw three of them!

The Vatican is worth a look. It has amazing frescos, sculpture, tapestry and architecture. The opulence is overwhelming. We then flew from Rome to Athens, Greece to continue our archeological adventure. First stop was to visit the Corinth Canal.

The canal was closed so we did not get to see any boats getting towed through but it is so deep and pretty. We could see the ruins of ancient Corinth on top of the hill…..I had no idea that New Testament Corinthians I and II were letters written to folks in modern day Greece! You think holy lands…..and you think more east in the Mediterranean. This trip definitely connected some dots that you just don’t get in a school education, Next stop, 2 nights in Napflio, the original capitol of Greece. We got to see Epidarus and Mycenae archeological sites. It’s amazing that some of these ruins were not discovered and excavated until modern times!

Next we headed to Athens for the last 2 nights of our official tour. On the free day, my daughter and I navigated the metro and took a ferry to Idra island as recommended by my friend who lives part time in Greece. It was such a cool place! No cars except emergency and trash and very unsure how they even fit in the very narrow streets. We loved all the cats in Greece and especially on the island! I have so many cat pics!

Where Yanni recorded Live at the Acropolis! Yes, I love Yanni! Ha

After this tour ended, we took a 2 day tour to Delphi in the mountains, it rained on our guided tour but after staying in a quaint motel with a view of the very north top of the sea of Corinth, we got to walk to Athena’s temple the next morning. Hard to believe Socrates walked here!

And finally we head back to Athens for the final night.

Cool view of very north Canada from the plane! We had a layover in London. ❤️ Next trip…….. prob in another 50 years. Ha. First, we deal with a kid in college. XO Malissa

Let me know if you want to come see the showroom! I have availability for meets. I need to start selling some things so I can decide if I need another job or not.

Reminders!

I am all but 24 hours from heading to the airport for the first flight on our trek to Naples! Just wanted to send an update with how things are going down for the next 2 weeks. I just ‘hid’ my commerce page and replaced with an info page. I will put it back up as soon as I get back in the states or a little sooner. Etsy went into vacation mode on Monday and is also not shoppable. I am in the last 48 hours of my Chairish sale! I had 2 things sell and I thank you so much! My husband will be facilitating a pick up while I am away! That stresses me out! Ha. Chairish will be open the entire time I am away. Shipping or pick up from this point on is after 4/6. Commit by Friday at midnight and save an additional 15%!

Mall hours are 10-5 WED -SUN. Stop by and shop my booth! I’d love to come back with some holes to fill! COME BY! 14129 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522

Here’s a little tutorial I made on shopping from Instagram! You can apply these tips to any company’s Instagram shop. I originally thought you were transacting through meta. That is not the case for my shop and many others. Enjoy!

Plan to stop by my showroom hours during extravaganza weekend! I’ll be open Thursday, Friday and Saturday- April 27-29th by noon and until 5 at least. ✌️ SEE YA IN A FEW WEEKS! 🇮🇹 🇬🇷 XO Malissa

12 days until shop closures!

Due to my not having cell service in Europe, I am going to take my website offline as well as put my Etsy on vacation mode. You will be able to purchase on Chairish but nothing will ship until I get back (if you are using a shipper a 2-3 week pick up time is normal). My mall booth will be open regular hours which is currently 10-5 WED - SUN and summer hours are coming soon so stay tuned at the GRQ USED FURNITURE FB PAGE for announcements.

I will be picking up a heywood wakefield Sculptura bedroom this week which is available. Stay tuned for pricing, pics and condition reports. I am available for showroom appointments between now and March 23rd. Text or call 610-223-5758.

The writing is on the wall for my future as my kid’s college acceptances roll in. Congrats to Genny for being accepted to my alma matter, Lebanon Valley College, as well as Alvernia University. She has not decided her track yet but I know I will need to either up my selling game or back off and get a job to help her. It will mean less availability for me and may jeopardize my inventory acquisition opportunities. It’s a lot to think about and I really need to get the word out regionally that I am here. I have the inventory to do it but if I don’t get the sales, I won’t be able to make enough profit to make it worth it. Appreciate all of you, my fans and followers to help me spread the word. Tell your like minded friends I am here! Especially those of you in the region where they can shop local with me and help me continue to help those families who are downsizing or liquidating their homes. Ultimately, we are important in this process and feel good that you directly support these families! I do not buy from auctions of middlemen and that is how I can price under my competitors!

Don’t forget to mark your calendar for my open house during the Spring Antiques Extravaganza! April 27, 28 and 29th! Noonish to 5ish at the showroom! 14129 Kutztown Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522. See you then! XO MALISSA

Pulaski Furniture and Leonard Eisen

Rabbit hole research time! I currently have some nice bedroom pieces and a desk that resemble a George Nelson look but clearly are not. I had a fellow dealer reach out to me who had pieces from the same line and one of his was marked Pulaski Furniture. I have started deep diving into them. Their most known mcm line is ‘Oceanic’ which is a beautifully carved walnut that often gets confused with Witco. As soon as he said Pulaski, my mind went to that line. I discovered the designer at the helm for Pulaski during this era was Leonard Eisen, I found a great interview with him on YouTube- watch below for history on his career, the company and how they positioned themselves to be a go to in the industry.

A piece from the Oceanic line is shown above, it’s an awesome line and great for tiki themed rooms.

The ad above refers to the line as ‘Contour 70s’. I have not located much on the other mid century modern lines as of yet, The search will continue!
