My new temporary life.

I am about a month into my new life of full time work and filling in the cracks with housework and business dealings. Many have reached out about things but I have been moving the most stuff locally via FB marketplace. I need to keep stuff moving even though I am not actively adding much to my inventory. If there is anything you are eyeing and I can help you along in your search, please reach out. I still have consignments looking for homes too and I need them to go. I will be adding backstock to my inventory as the winter rolls on. My job will be stressful and fast moving ending with a thud at the end of census operations….probably in June but I found my not to exceed termination date published as August 31st. This is a great opportunity for temp work that pays well so encourage anyone in that position to apply! We will be hiring through March so it is not too late to get a job. 2020census.gov/jobs.
I have a delivery meetup scheduled this Saturday in central PA off the turnpike. If you want something smaller that fits with my wall unit and can meet me in Somerset or East on the turnpike, give a yell!

Last Minute Holiday Info.

I am officially in the throes of full time employment albeit temporarily and it will come to an end but not much before July. I welcome you to reach out to arrange pick up and purchase of most smaller furniture pieces at my retail space. Most of my items can be placed out there if you give me a few days notice. Unfortunately, I will be working evenings and weekends as we get into peak ops on the census and that will definitely limit my availability. I will be trying to keep up with my shops but I can tell you, it’s already exhausting with my commute, hours and housework. That said, I wanted to give a quick reminder of my MEET AND GREET next Saturday, 21st! I plan on hanging out all day at my space in Fleetwood Antique Mall and want you, my friends and fans that are local to come out! I have great last minute gifts and will have a gift for you as well! Online sales are running out of time for christmas. Larger items going Fed Ex to west coast are probably pushing it after the beginning of next week. Priority Mail should be out before next weekend. My prices all included cheaper of shipping options so if you are under a holiday deadline, they please reach out first as I don’t want you to be disappointed. I can quote faster options at your additional cost.

I have my (late) grandmother’s chair at the upholsterer! I can’t wait to see it next week. Will post pics when it comes back. If you are in need of a gift that won’t break the bank, check out these Dopp kits! I made a little video to tell you about them in under 2 minutes. ha. I have VERY LIMITED red bags….like 2 here at home and maybe 3 or 4 more out at the mall. I have a few here that have color bleed issues where the red bled into the cream material. I was not planning on selling them but giving them as gifts when someone buys a large expensive item. (yeah, I DO THAT!). So act quickly if I can send one of them. Grey bags I have loads of for the moment! Grab some while I got them especially if you need a decent quantity.

My census job is getting closer….background check is back. Hopefully I will hear from someone this week with my start date and other info. I am motivated to down size my inventory as I get ready to work some full time contract work. Plus I could use some Christmas money as I don’t see me starting much before January at this point. I am slowly moving more inventory over to my SALE. I have a CLEARANCE category on Etsy and that is where you will find the markdowns. 20% off and many have free shipping. I have started featuring items in my social media and honestly, I have some cool stuff, My long term goal at this point is to downsize and get out of Smalls. I have not been to a thrift store in months and have not bought any Smalls at estate sales. I have backstock to add and will be taking things out to my space in the mall as things leave out there. If I have something not on sale and you want to negotiate, that is fine. I like bulk buys so if you want a few things that will get you a better price. I am planning to continue on with furniture and restorations but end the franticness of trying to ‘make a living’. I can’t physically process and sell what I need to do that I can make a respectable wage. Teenagers are crazy expensive. Every time I turn around my kids need hundred of dollars for this field trip or that band trip and guess what, I am only a few years away from 2 kids in college and I am starting to panic. This can not sustain our family and I need to get a real, paying job. And bonus if I can stockpile some money in a retirement fund while I am at it. So here I am, making a plan. Will see how this full time temp job goes cause if we all can handle it (including my mom who has to step up to be kid Uber after school), I may start my quest earlier than the year and a half I have given myself (kid #1 will be driving and then I am free). I love what I do. I am hoping and praying I can get a job related to what I am doing…..in some capacity. I have created a wonderful thing here and this year, I will probably beat $40,000 in sales, my biggest year yet. But it’s time to get off the hamster wheel and work for someone who values my time and compensates me for it. Self employment is not for the faint of heart or for those of us who need a steady income. It’s a constant juggling act. The good thing here is I can still operate in whatever capacity I choose! I choose to specialized in furniture restoration and will continue. I won’t care if a piece I pumped hundreds of dollars into is still waiting for a forever home in two years if I have a paycheck paying my bills. Things have changed. Etsy is far from reliable. Chairish is still growing but not as I have hoped. eBay has no respect for sellers. Making it alone is just impossible and selling local for me is not profitable. So here’s some things to tempt you.
